My name is Karen Alice Jasik (née) Gulbrandsen, born in Chicago, IL. I met Emil John Jasik (Mel) on a blind date in Dec. 1960 and we married June 1961. I have 3 sons and 2 daughters (I count my daughter-in-law Kristi as my 3rd daughter), 10 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters so far. I love all of them dearly.

I have white hair which I’ve been working on since I was 17. My eyes are blue , my height is 5′ 1 1/2 ” (started at 5’5″) and I’m a Norwegian American.

I love to sew and create just about anything. I’ve written a small book titled “This Little DeLight of Mine” which is available from Amazon ( get your copy here ) and now I’ve started a blog.

I spent at least 3 years volunteering at the Safe Choice women’s  center in Ellijay GA, where I lived for 4 years, where they helped women care for their babies from the begining thru the baby’s 2nd year, thereby in some cases preventing the mom from having to choose an abortion. It was a very rewarding experience and I’m planning to resume a similar program as a once a week volunteer here in FL.

This picture was taken in a big, beautiful log cabin in  Pigeon Forge TN. My family gave me a surprise birthday party. They decorated everything including me for my 80th. At our party, I told my family to mark their calendars for Sept. 2029 because all of us will celebrate my 90th birthday ZipLining. I guess you can say I’m optimistic.
